Laurier is a leader in entrepreneurship education and is a founding academic partner of Communitech , Waterloo Region’s industry innovation centre.

aacsb-logo The Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship housed within the Lazaridis School of Business + Economics is one of Canada’s longest running post-secondary organizations dedicated to entrepreneurship education for Laurier students and alumni.

Laurier’s SIVC program – social innovation + venture creation – supports ‘social ventures’, initiatives focused on addressing complex social issues with sustainable, collaborative, impactful strategies.

Today, this has produced an unparalleled entrepreneurship experience for Laurier students: a wide range of courses, active student clubs, high-impact co-curricular programs, as well as access to Laurier’s large network of alumni entrepreneurs.

Laurier’s new Lazaridis Institute for the Management of Technology Enterprises will pave the way to continued global leadership in entrepreneurship.

The Ecosystem

Waterloo is a world-renowned technology hub; home to hundreds of startups and dozens of long-established titans. A wealth of support is at our students’ fingertips. The networking and learning opportunities through not just our programs, but Communitech, the Accelerator Centre, and countless Laurier alumni, are unrivaled. Laurier’s nearby Brantford campus has access to all of this and more. Innovation and Entrepreneurship is part of that city’s lifeblood, too, and promoted through all Laurier classrooms and curriculum in Brantford.

Together, the university is united in supporting entrepreneurs, who generously enrich our campus community and classrooms by helping students transfer theory to real-life experiences. Laurier has topnotch leaders as Entrepreneurs in Residence. We also have formal mentors. All of these individuals offer both insights and inspiration to you who would follow in their trailblazing footsteps. Finally, committed corporate partners are the key to the university’s strength success in this area.
