Communitech Hub
Laurier is a founding academic partner of the Communitech Digital Media Hub, bringing together start-ups, industry, academic institutions, and service providers to put Canada at the forefront of digital media technology. It builds global companies by mentoring tenant start-ups, splicing innovation into enterprise partners, initiating strategic partnerships and helping big digital media ideas secure funding.
Laurier owns two distinct areas at the Hub:
- Office space and a meeting room in the Partner Networking Area, where Laurier students, staff, faculty and alumni are free to work; and
- ‘The Sandbox‘ – home to the Entrepreneurship Accelerator, is a space designed to maximize collaboration and productivity, fitted with the latest technology, modern workspaces as well as a lounge/presentation area
There are various ways to get involved at the Hub:
- Students can use the Laurier workspaces as they launch their ventures; Work for a Start-Up @ the Hub; and apply enter the Entrepreneurship Accelerator which is housed at the Hub.
- Faculty can leverage the intersection of innovation and industry for teaching and research purposes.
