The Laurier Entrepreneurship Competition provides a platform for Laurier students, staff, and faculty to bring their innovative ideas to life. Now in its 9th year, competition provides a network of resources for teambuilding, mentorship, learning and venture development.
All types of ventures, in all stages of development, in all industries and sectors are encouraged to participate. Even if you don’t win, you’ll gain valuable experience, meet great people and have fun. We encourage ALL Laurier entrepreneurs!
There are four streams to encourage participation by all members of the Laurier community.
1. Startup Venture Cup
This is for students, staff and faculty with an idea for a start-up or those in the early stages of developing their venture (Waterloo campus only). Cash awards and in-kind prizes available to be won. Cash prizes, in-kind services plus entry into LaunchPad are among the prizes available to be won.
The SHF competition is for any project, venture or initiative that positively impacts social, ecologic, and/or economic systems (and the interconnections between them) as they impact aspects of student life at Laurier (Brantford and Waterloo campuses). Up to $20,000 is available to be awarded to winning projects across the two campuses.
Research2Revenue is for faculty, students, and staff that are interested in creating start-up companies as a conduit for converting their research findings into marketable products. or students working on research with commercial potential (Brantford and Waterloo campuses). Cash prizes, in-kind services plus entry into LaunchPad are among the prizes available to be won.
4. LaunchPad Challenge
A competition specifically for startups in Laurier’s LaunchPad program (Brantford and Waterloo campuses). Eligible ventures will be contacted directly. Prizes will be determined according to the needs of the winning ventures at the discretion of the judges and the Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship. Information regarding this opportunity will be communicated directly to the current LaunchPad companies.
