Laurier LaunchPad Startup MyCareerCity Pitches on International Stage
This weekend, Laurier entrepreneur Eugene Osei, will be pitching his startup, MyCareerCity, at the prestigious Queen’s Entrepreneurs’ Competition. Competing amongst 18 of the world’s brightest young entrepreneurs, MyCareerCity has a chance at winning $15,000 to help launch their new venture! MyCareerCity, a Laurier LaunchPad startup, is a career social network for students to create, manage, and share their career identity. The MyCareerCity team hopes to launch their business officially in spring 2013.
The Queen’s Entrepreneurs’ Competition is recognized as one of the biggest, longest-running and well-known business plan competitions in the world, and has received submissions from as far as China, Australia, Thailand, Portugal, Malaysia, Sweden, India, the U.S. and Canada.
On Friday each of the 18 teams will pitch their new venture plans to a panel of Canadian business professionals, followed by a short question and answer session. From there the final 6 teams are selected and will pitch to a separate panel of judges on Saturday.
Aside from the opportunity to win seed funding, the Queen’s Entrepreneurs’ Competition is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to network with a wealth of professionals, further develop their business ideas, and receive support to launch successfully.
Laurier has seen success before at the Queen’s Entrepreneurs’ Competition. In 2010, Laurier alumnus Christopher Carmichael took the grand prize of $15,000 with his business, BuildMyLandyard.com.
After graduating from the Laurier LaunchPad course in 2012 MyCareerCity has seen some outstanding growth and is equipped with everything they need to make it happen this weekend!
“The Laurier LaunchPad has been a catalyst to our present success. The milestone based course helped accelerate our growth, develop a sound business model, sharpen our pitch, and develop an outstanding professional network to help us get MyCareerCity off the ground. We can’t wait to represent Laurier Innovation + Entrepreneurship on this International stage!” – Eugene Osei
