Pepsico Pitch Competition
Each year, the PepsiCo Pitch Competition introduces over 1200 first-year BBA students to the ‘art of the pitch’, a critical skill used everyday in the business world. As a lead-up to the New Venture Competition that takes place later in the term, each student must individually develop a 90 second ‘elevator pitch’ for their new business idea and present this to their peers during labs in early February. The top 2 students in each lab present their pitch to a panel of alumni and current Teaching Assistants, who then choose the 10 finalists to be judged by a panel of entrepreneurs and external business community members, that selects the top 3 pitchers. Scholarships and the PepsiCo Pitch Plaque are presented at the awards reception at the beginning of February, and PepsiCo also offers guaranteed interviews to the top 3 pitchers.
The competition is designed to strengthen the students’ communication and presentation skills, as well as their ability to be both professional and persuasive enough to want someone to hear more.
